Welcome to BJ’s Décor and More! Nestled in the heart of Montrose - minutes from Downtown, the Medical Center, and Washington Ave. Our cozy shop is the passion project of Becky, our dedicated owner. Join us as we share Becky’s story and the charming history behind the unique antique haven she has lovingly crafted.
When did you start?
“I started back in 1990. It's been quite a journey since then! We originally set up shop across the street, where the Barcelona restaurant is now located. Eventually, we moved to our current location to better accommodate our growing customer base and improve our facilities.”
Why Decor?
“Why decor? Well, back in the '90s, I had a steady 15-year job, but then I got sick and had to leave. Losing that job was tough, but it led me to stumble into selling decor and other select items. It turned out I had a knack for it and a good eye for spotting valuable pieces. What started as a way to make ends meet quickly became a full-time job, and over the years, it just grew from there. Now, I couldn't imagine doing anything else!”
How has Houston helped?
“Being in Houston has been a huge advantage for us. The variety of people who walk in and out of the shop, all looking for something special, is incredible. We've become a go-to spot not just for locals but also for out-of-towners and even people from out of state. Plus, being next to the medical center isn’t too shabby either.”
